About Gordon Automotive
Gordon Automotive was founded by Mike and Katie Gordon on August 1, 1966. At the beginning, Mike would work by himself late into the night to ensure that each vehicle was taken care of. It wasn't until January of 1968 when Gordon Automotive hired its first employee. Mike continued to grow the business, moving into a new location in January of 1979. Additional bays and employees were added throughout the years to accommodate the community and be able to assist more of our customers.
Mike and Katie eventually decided to retire and sold Gordon Automotive to their trusted employee of over 30 years - Don Jones. Don Jones is the current owner of Gordon Automotive and has had the pleasure of continuing the legacy that this shop has created. Don had to find Gordon Automotive a new home, so the business moved to its current location in September of 2017. The weekend they moved shop was when Hurricane Harvey passed through Texas. This created a lot of havoc at the old shop, but with everyone pulling together we were up and running and did not close a day!
Don Jones has accumulated over 45 years in the automotive industry and has always had a passion for mechanics. He’s a huge fan of motorsports and has always been around cars and motorcycles. He has a background in heavy equipment such as cranes and concrete pumps, so his experience with mechanics is beyond just automotive. He always wanted to figure out what made machines tick. Outside of the shop, Don enjoys going fishing and has an interest in photography.
At the end of the day, our goal here at Gordon Automotive is to provide the best customer service possible and to be your go-to place for all of your automotive needs. Our customers are our friends and we love making new ones. For everyone here at our Austin repair shop, this work isn’t just a job - we really care about you and your vehicle and will do everything we can to ensure that you have a safe and working vehicle.
